Exmoor Pony Centre
Did you know that the iconic Exmoor Pony is the oldest native pony breed in Britain? Visit the Exmoor Pony Centre to meet some of these beautiful ponies and learn more about them. You’ll also have the opportunity to ride an Exmoor Pony. The centre caters for riders of all levels.
Wellhayes Vineyard
Venture across the border into Devon for a delightful visit to Wellhayes Vineyard. Pick up one of their finest sparkling wines 7 days a week, or for a special outing, why not book a guided tour & wine tasting? The vineyard tour is available by appointment on Sundays and Wednesdays at 3pm from May – September and costs £30pp.
Exmoor Adventures
Fancy an unforgettable adventure? We are lucky to be just a 10-minute drive from the hub of Exmoor Adventures near Porlock Weir.
Operating since 2009, Dan and his experienced team offer a range of adrenaline-pumping experiences including archery, coasteering, kayaking, paddle boarding and much more! If you fancy getting off the beaten track, they also offer Exmoor e-bike and mountain bike hire.
Wimbeball Lake
Take a 30-minute drive to Wimbleball Lake – one of Somerset’s top outdoor attractions. Run by South West Lakes, the 530 acre site has something to offer everyone, including miles of footpaths, cycle ways and a host of exhilarating watersports (including instructor-led sessions, equipment hire & self launch.) Don’t forget your camera – the lake is also home to a variety of wildlife!
Horse Riding
If you fancy getting on horseback, Julian & Marion at Burrowhayes Farm, based in Horner, just a 5-minute drive away, offer escorted rides for all abilities or small ponies where parents can walk & lead their children. Exmoor Riding, based in Bossington, also offers horse riding for more experienced riders.
Wildlife safaris
Explore the magic of Exmoor with escorted wildlife tours at Daphne & Richard’s Exmoor Wildlife Safaris. Ride in style in a Land Rover Defender 110 and spot some of Exmoor’s most-cherished wildlife, including Exmoor Ponies and Red Deer, while learning about the local history.

Exmoor Coaster
Enjoy the Exmoor Coaster, one of the country’s best open-top bus rides. With the popular seaside resort of Minehead at one end, the traditional fishing village of Lynmouth at the other, and a stunning stretch of dramatic moorland in between, it promises a scenic route like no other.
Catch the bus from Allerford (close to Orchard Escapes Exmoor) and hop off at your choice of places along the way.
Walking
Are you visiting Orchard Escapes Exmoor for a walking holiday? You’ll be simply spoilt for choice! Exmoor is a walker’s heaven with so many routes and paths you can take from your home-away-from-home at Orchard Escapes Exmoor. We are close to the South West Coast Path, and you can head towards Minehead and Porlock Weir from here.
